Dog Leash and Collar Training

,
TRAINING IN ANIMATION :

Dog leash laws are becoming the suitable in practically every city. A dog must be on a restraint when he is not on the owner's property. This law has many benefits but can be a nightmare if your pet is not used to using a leash. It can become an absolute battle of wills daily if your dog does not understand how to walk on a leash properly. Permissible dog leash training is essential.

One of the things that you can get to help you with Permissible leash training is a good training collar. The goal of teaching a dog to walk properly on a leash is to have an animal that will walk happily beside you or behind you, not in front and never pulling you forward. When you first start to train a dog regardless of age, you may want to use a good collar that will make your training efforts easier.

Which collar you agree will depend greatly on the type of dog that you own. If you have a big dog you are going to want something that will stop him from pulling. There are a range of collars that will enable you to stop the dog from pulling without injuring the animal. You do not want to inadvertently hurt your pet if he is straining to go forwards.

One of the best methods to use when teaching a dog to walk on a leash is the stop and frost method. This means that every time you feel the dog pulling you right away freeze. Nobody moves until the dog stops. If a collar will help you to operate the dog then get one.

A polite leader type collar is ideal for some dogs. These collars look similar to a muzzle but they do not stop the dog from barking, eating or drinking. Some dogs can even get a tennis ball in their mouths while wearing this type of collar. What this collar does is to turn the dog's head to the side when the leash is tight. Most dogs will stop walking when they cannot see directly ahead. Rather than putting pressure on the neck of the animal, you are turning his head to the side.

Another good collar is one that pulls the dog's head down. This has the same consequent as the one that turns the dog's head to the side. These are very easy to find and they will not put any direct pressure on the dog's throat.

Pinch collars may look scary and cruel but they are preferable to a collar that can injure a dog's trachea. With the pinch collar an equal pressure is applied colse to the dog's neck rather than being centered just on the wind pipe area.

If you have a dog that has a very thick neck you may have to get a harness type collar for walking. Some breeds can easy pull their heads through a collar because their neck is so muscular. In some cases their neck is as a matter of fact wider than their head which allows them to pull their head right out of the collar and the last thing you want is to have your dog slip his collar while you are out.

Whichever collar you select all the time keep in mind that your goal is to be able to walk your dog using only a leash and his every day collar. The leash is only there as a safety precaution and because the law demands it. Training collars are just that, used for training, you do not want them to be a permanent part of your and the dog's life. The end consequent you want is dog to be with you because he wants to be and not because you are forcing him.
